So what is the “good” in Good Friday?
In a nutshell of a word it is Love. The love of Jesus. A kind of love that would cause the world to literally shudder when death struck.
His perfect love. The John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” kind of love.
This is the essence of the good news. He died for all of us, for all of our sins so that we might enter into everlasting life.
He is the Good News. He is the reason for the season, this holy week season. This thought alone should give us pause. Just think about it, the impact of that one lifesaving act of love has opened the way for eternity for all of us.
Can you believe it? This should be stunning news that should shine through our very lives as evidence of the powerful work that Jesus’ did on the cross!
So my questions to myself and to you, as followers of Jesus:
Is there evidence of the “good” in Good Friday in your life? Evidence that is “evident” to others as you live out each day?
How much evidence of the “good” in Good Friday (ie the love of Jesus) shows up when you walk out of church and into your city?
Is there enough for you to be categorized as a follower of Jesus?
So my prayer is this: Lord, may our lives reflect who you are as we go out and show your love to others. I simply want the evidence of this event to show up in my life as I go about the business of living. I desire that all of my life, not just my church life, leak evidence that would reflect the “good” in Good Friday.
